Noel KWIZERA

Brief info
Noel has over 5 years of experience in Conservation Biology, Natural Resources Management, Agroforestry, Environmental Safeguards, and Climate Change Policy. Previously, he served as an Environmental and Social Safeguards Officer at the Ministry of Education, working on a project funded by the World Bank. Noel holds a Bachelor’s degree in Agroforestry from the University of Rwanda and is currently pursuing a Master's program in Biodiversity Conservation and Natural Resource Management at the University of Rwanda, focusing on Human-Wildlife Coexistence, particularly around Volcanoes National Park.
He has extensive experience in conducting research, with a focus on community conservation that bridge the gap between people and nature. Noel has also co-authored a recent peer-reviewed paper on Carnivore Diversity and Distribution along the Park Edge of Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda. (http://dx.doi.org/10.13140/RG.2.2.25125.27363)
Since joining Nature Rwanda in January 2024, Noel has been managing the Climate Change and Landscape Restoration Program, one of the organization's four intervention areas. He is now leading a 6-year project funded by TerraFund, aiming to contribute to the restoration of degraded lands in the Rusizi River/Lake Kivu basin.
