Species&Habitat Conservation

Hooded-vultures-Nature-Rwanda

The Hooded Vulture, Necrosyrtes monachus, is one of the seven African vulture species classified as Critically Endangered by the IUCN Red List. This is due to its very rapid population decline at an extent rate of over 80%, which is caused by indiscriminate poisoning, trade for traditional medicine, hunting for food, persecution and electrocution, as well as habitat loss and degradation. Vultures spend their lives cleaning up the environment and preventing the spread of diseases. The hooded vulture remains the most common vulture species in Rwanda, amongst others. Considering their irreplaceable role, Nature Rwanda has taken the initiative to conserve vultures for their survival in the future. Please join us to support the conservation of these majestic birds.

We also ask you to make a donation to support animal welfare organizations to help save animals worldwide. We strongly believe that together we make big changes.
