Conservation Volunteers play a crucial role in conservation practices. They are used as a labor source but primarily their function is personal education and empowerment. Through the project; “Integrated restoration and management of Mpenge Rivers, for improved biodiversity conservation and natural resource management”. Nature Rwanda organized a two-day training of 20 Local Conservation Volunteers of Mpenge River for creating awareness among the community about diseases related to hygiene, sanitation, and water as well as the significance of household hygiene to sustainable management of Mpenge river, and proper techniques of household and community waste management. An established team of 20 Local Conservation Volunteers for Mpenge river conservation with improved awareness about diseases related to hygiene, sanitation, and water, will contribute to the successful collaboration with community members for the river restoration and protection.
