We are organizing a workshop for 25 teachers who are mentors of environmental clubs in their schools. In this context, we invited 3 teachers and their headteachers from Gicaca Primary School, Kigusa Primary School, Rulindo Primary, and Rwahi Secondary School.
This workshop intends to build the capacity of teachers and increase the quantity and quality of environmental education with special emphasis on the wetlands ecosystem of Akanyaru and Nyabarongo wetlands. The training does not only inform about issues related to wetlands conservation but also investigates alternative coaching methods such as Activity-based lessons and cooperative learning in the area of environmental conservation.
The expected outcomes of this workshop are:
- Improved methods for teachers to engage the young generation around wetlands into collaborative efforts to find solutions for local environmental issues and mitigate consequences.
- Improved coaching technics to provide Eco-Club members with the required knowledge, attitudes, and behavior towards protection and conservation of biodiversity of wetlands.
