Nature Rwanda is working hard to ensure the ecological integrity and economic sustainability of a network of intact and well-functioning biodiversity crucial to Rwanda and its people. Through Eco-club initiatives, we hope to demonstrate these relationships and highlight the importance of biodiversity and ecosystem services– especially their role as key habitats for endangered species. A shift in perspective, attitude, and behavior is required to accurately reflect their significance.
To convey this, Nature Rwanda hosted an award ceremony to recognize the winners of the Wetlands and Biodiversity Talent Competition, organized in commemoration of World Wetland Day 2020. We were happy to awarenesses nine deserving champions from Kigusa, Gicaca primary schools and GS Rulindo in the Bugesera to honour their contribution to environmental conservation!
- Strengthened the Eco-clubs in schools around Akanyaru Wetlands.
- Improved engagement of students by creating an active learning environment at their schools.
- Improved awareness in schools around Akanyaru wetlands on environmental issues.
